Who are The Keepers of the Golden Compass?

We’re The Keepers of the Golden Compass — or just The Keepers: a close family with a passion for exploring the world around us. Whenever we can, we head off on an adventure — across the globe, to remote islands, stunning lakes, or places that feel like they only exist in movies.

Our name is playful, but it means something. In our family, the compass is a guide for finding our way through this life — together. And “golden” is our quest for the hidden gems of the world.

One of us is an author and a maker of games. This website is where those passions meet.

Goal of The Keepers

Fun! That word alone sums up what we’re about.

Our goal is to motivate others to get out and explore for themselves. The world is full of wonders, and seeing them on a screen is nothing like being there — seeing with your own eyes, listening with your own ears, smelling the air, feeling the ground under your feet. That’s an experience a phone can’t fully give you.

We also love sharing books and games. A favorite for the little ones is The Tooth Fairies of Fairy Kingdom — especially fun around the tooth-losing years, when kids usually pick a favorite fairy (or the one they hope will visit).

What we do

When we can, we hide a small treasure and post clues on our social channels. Follow along so you don’t miss a hunt.

We also visit Utah classrooms to talk about our books and show our first game — great for kids learning positive and negative numbers. Educators in Utah (for now): reach out if you’d like a visit.

Where will the treasures be hidden?

Home for us is one of the greatest playgrounds for outdoor lovers: Utah. Hunts start here.

Why Utah? More Dark Sky Parks than anywhere else in the world. Five National Parks and 40+ State Parks. Hiking, mountain biking, camping, fishing, water sports — and places you almost have to see to believe. Southwest, hikers come from everywhere for The Narrows in Zion. Nearby, the outdoor Tuacahn Amphitheater puts on musicals under the stars. Up north, Bear Lake — the “Caribbean of the Rockies” — stops people in their tracks. And winters? Some of the best skiing on earth.

Utah’s reputation often gets reduced to one community. The people here are friendly, and the land is absolutely amazing.

We hope to expand someday. For now, the treasure trail begins in Utah.
